Isn't there an apochryphal text like this, the "The Acts of Paul and Thecla"? After listening to the visiting Paul, Thecla refuses marriage, her mother in a rage asks the magistrate to burn her (the implication is that the mother wanted the money), a rain shower thwarts the attempt, and she escapes disguised as a boy and goes looking for Paul. Like most of these early "martyr" stories, there is a lot of nudity, which I assume served a subliminal purpose. It was OK to enjoy it if it was in a holy story.
