Beautiful Places. I particularly was taken by Nether Wallop (0:49) which I would love to explore with @Eulalia someday. Then maybe a bedding at the quaint Inn in Lacock (2:00)

At first glance, the UK looks like 1930s, but a closer look shows the dateable pictures are quite modern, indeed the copyright of 2020 may be when the photos were taken, carefully omitting crowded pedestrians and vehicles.

There are many quaint corners, amidst much modern dross.

Have you ever tried Nether Wallop?

Well I'd rather Nether Wallop than Lower Slaughter. I've not visited either, though been near enough to see the Slaughters on a signpost (in the Cotswolds) - incidentally, they're named from a 'sloe-tree', blackthorn - not sure about Wallop ... think it's the name of a stream, like the Piddle down in that part of the world. I have been to Lacock - Lacock Abbey, a Cruxton-like folly, is where Henry Fox Talbot took proto-photos:

Lacock Abbey is well worth a visit. A nice house with an important place in the history of photography, some of the earliest photos ever taken were taken here.

Who knows, some of them may even have been of specialist interest :)

Cornwall, anyone?
Note the Cornish bagpipes at 7:17. Actually they're Highland pipes, not sure what they're doing in Cornwall. Over in Brittany, they do have their own pipes and a fine tradition of playing them, but I don't think there's a Cornish version.

Lead miners from Scotland moving to the Cornish tin mines when their own were exhausted?

A short break from the UK. Seventy years of La-La land, then and now:
I love all those videos which let me have a glimpse of past. This also reminds me of a video game which let the player drive on the streets of L.A. in 1940s:

And while I'm at it, here's my favourite song from that game. They used a lot of classic numbers of the period but this was a new song they composed for the game:

Continuing historic Britain, London in 1950. Note a the beginning it was cleared by the British Board of Film Censors, as is everything that I post on CF. I also was flabbergasted to learn (@2:08) that London in 1950 had new-fangled devices called telephones.
At 6:20 @windar and @Barbaria1 's Dorchester

Even to someone who remembers the 50s pretty well, that soundtrack is cringeworthy. I guess it was made to indoctrinate us country bumpkins that London was a vibrant, fully-functioning city, whereas the truth was that vast blocks were still bomb-damaged and fenced off.

Cinemas then showed a B-movie (though we called them films), followed by an interval (rush to the front to buy my one ice cream of the week) then adverts (Kia-ora anyone?) then short films like above. Finally the featured A-movie we had really gone to see. So all films had to show the censor certificate at the beginning, even travelogues etc.

Unusual to see Corfe Castle when it's not rammed with vehicles and tourists. Must be around dawn in mid summer, maybe?
Earlier this year when we were in Covid lockdown? I did take some pics of Bedford town centre with hardly anyone in sight at that time (I was waiting outside Tesco for my GF, only one at a time in the store then.)
