Olivia's Judgement Day

Back millennia ago, there was a wealthy woman known as Olivia. Olivia was a beautiful young woman who married to a powerful senator who was revered throughout the land. But such wealth and power demands certain responsibilities. And the senator’s power could not overshadow his considerable advanced age. This did not bother Olivia. She simply engaged in a torrid affair with the senator’s head guard.

It turned out the senator was an excellent observer, and their affair was soon discovered. The guard was quietly transferred to a place known as England where Rome’s occupation was not going well. It was believed that if he wasn’t killed there, the distance would cool his affections for Olivia.

Then there was the question of what to do about Olivia. Having an adulterous wife would not look good on the senator’s resume. He consulted with some close trusted friends who came up with the idea she was a spy for Rome’s enemies. They could use any dead crucified spy as her liaison (after all, a dead man couldn’t refute their story). The senator could demand she be put to death on a cross as all spies were and he could divorce Olivia before she was hanged from a cross as a sign of his solidarity with the Roman state.

All seemed in order and soldiers were sent to the senator’s country estate to arrest Olivia. The soldiers broke into Olivia’s suite where she was being well attended to by a couple of maids. They announced she was under arrest and would be brought to Rome and be tried for her crimes. Olivia, unaware her trial would be a mere front to her crucifixion, huffed “Let me get dressed.”

The commander said “You are dressed with all you need right now! And ladies, do not try to assist Olivia or you will face the same fate as she does!”

With her hands in irons behind her back and a heavy collar locked around her neck, Olivia was marched back to Rome wearing nothing more than when she was born.

Her complaints about the hot sun, her nudity, and the gravel pavement grinding at her feet were largely ignored by the crew taking her to Rome.

Once there, Olivia was locked in a cell to await her conviction trial. She tried to lure the guards into giving her the release she needed.

She was soundly rejected, being told she was only being incarcerated pending her trial.

It didn’t give her any comfort when the guards promised they would fuck her after she was condemned to death…

Poor bugger. After a couple of winters he'll be pining for a cross. :(

Great story Tree! Now, the pedants might object to this:

..because there wasn’t an England until the Anglo-Saxons arrived, long after Roman times. Luckily I’m not one of those pedants!
England didn't exist then. This Roman province was referred to by the Romans as the province of Britannia.
In those days of old soccer hadn't been invented, so instead of the Italians thrashing England in football, the Romans thrashed Britannia in battle.

Now wait a minute! The story may be written from a viewpoint of millenia ahead from now! Based on a reading of chronicles, that may give a bit of a twisted account of history!:icon_writing:

Roman occupation that was not going well, then simply refers to Brexit, as the EU is based on the Treaty of Rome!:roto2nuse:

Mr. Tree, please continue!

(I probably have gained now a nomination for 'pedant of the day'!).:enamorado:
