I've certainly used the painting in at least one manip, although I think it was not the whole painting, but a crop. This is a very effective manip. Kim has almost finished removing her clothing, and seems unsure of what is in store for her, almost curious, more than terrified. It's a fascinating expression, given the setting, but it works to whet the viewer's imagination. A well chosen image of the model, coupled with your usual meticulous attention to lighting and colour blending. She fits into the background making us forget that it's a painting and not the backdrop of the photo. Beautiful work.
:thumbup::beer::clapping:
And an excellent essay it is, too!

It is hard to convincingly insert a photographed model into a painting, but you seem to have managed it very well!
Many thanks for such high praise from two established crux manip specialists! :)

This was a relatively quick composition, using four component layers with another four layers of blending filters. This allows considerable flexibility in fine-tuning to adjust the depth of field and achieve a unified balance of colour and contrast. I note that Fedor Bronnikov's painting title is sometimes translated as, 'The Cursed Field'. Since the figure pose is not from Baracus' photoshoot, we are still awaiting the first suspended crux manip of Kim. :D

A Surprise Party at Jollyrei's House

:) 16 October 2021 - Happy Birthday to Ariel - 27 years old today! :)

Ariel has been invited to Jollyrei's place, for a surprise party to celebrate her birthday. Following a little persuasion and the exercise of Jolly's inimitable charm, Ariel agreed to visit him at short notice.

'I don't know why I allow myself to be so manipulated by you, Jollyrei', she announced on arrival at Jolly's imposing residence.

'Ariel, we both know how much you love surprises', Jollyrei reassured her before the party commenced.

The following morning Ariel decides to go out for some fresh air. She is feeling a little hungover, the morning after the night before. And she is beginning to remember the events of that night - and she suspects that something regrettable may have happened...

However, I am delighted to see that @Jollyrei has presented his own celebration of Ariel's birthday, in the form of a new story entitled, 'Ariel Andromeda'. :)

Well, I'm not going to wallow in regrets, although I think the house could use some work. Anyone know a good contractor or renovation person? The image of Ariel fits well into the surreal background and her expression is perfect. She needn't worry, of course (well, not anymore anyway). I'm a very considerate host. Somehow the pallor of her skin does not really reduce her beauty, although a lot of that is likely due to the skill with which Bob employs his colour and texture layers and adjustments to make this look like my alter-ego just found her in (for what we, for lack of a better term, will call) the garden and snapped a quick photo. Another beautiful manip, deceptive in its apparent simplicity, but we know that Bob has done some complex and subtle artistry here to get that look.

It's rather like rich people who dress in that sort of poor look clothing that makes you realize they actually drive a Bentley.

My own quickly assembled tribute to Ariel's birthday. Happy birthday Ariel !

Ariel is seen here as she is scouting the Mediterranean coast with @Jollyrei in search of a location for the "Andromeda" photo series.

As I have noted before, sometimes the quickly assembled manip is the way to go, and there's no point going overboard (pardon the maritime metaphor there - nothing to do with the picture, I assure you) to make unnecessary adjustments. This image is beautiful as it is. I could speculate that Ariel was just made to be on a beach, or perhaps that's just where a number of photographers have put her for photo shoots, but she looks like she naturally belongs there. She might have just got up, perhaps out of a sleeping bag in a tent and is taking stock of the morning. The light and shadows are convincingly used and the placement of Ariel is appropriate for being in the partial shade of the trees, with the brighter sun in full glory behind her. It's gorgeous. :headbang:

If you don't mind me saying, I realize you've suggested a context for the photo, but one could put a shipwreck in for an image of Ariel on the beach as a castaway (not that we'd wish a thing like that on a sweet girl like her, of course...I mean, really, the mere thought...:devil: ).

She really is quite lovely, isn't she? :bdsm-heart:

Perhaps when she's fully over her hangover, she might lend a hand to giving Chez Jollyrei a lick of paint? You seem to have let things slide, Jollyrei, old boy - the place is looking distinctly secondhand!

And now we learn the reason - he's too busy gallivanting around the med with Ariel to keep up with essential home maintenance!

Seriously, though, we've been treated to some wonderful images of a lovely girl today, thank you all! :)

Thanks for your appreciation, Jolly and Wragg. Like last year's birthday celebration, the supernatural theme was partly inspired by the proximity of Halloween, and the fact that Ariel has become established as a Jollyrei muse among the Cruxton models.

The house in my picture is Bennett College in New York (originally a hotel) which has been derelict for the past forty or fifty years. I forced the perspective to lower the viewpoint and fit Ariel into the middle distance. The sky is a separate layer, as are the various items of foliage and the stake. The starting point was this photograph of the building, and everything else has been inserted as a number of separate components.

Abandoned Hotel 1339232754064.jpg

The picture has 14 visible layers of image components, of which 11 are layer masked. Ariel is a composite figure, containing four layer masks. There are 10 additional layers of translucent texture and colour-blending filters for balancing the colour saturation and contrast between the different components. I have used Ariel in two previous manips, the first being, 'Ariel Crowned', which was presented in the 'Crown of Thorns' thread for Easter 2018. :)

The spectacular failure of the 2016 remake of 'Ben Hur' at the box office raises questions about the future of Hollywood's sword and sandals epics. Despite the high drama, propulsive action scenes, casual violence and a $100 million budget, the movie scored a 25% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the director received a Yoga Award for 'worst remake', and the film received an EDA Special Mention Award for a 'sequel or remake which should not have been made.'

Altogether less than high praise, although it is hoped that the movie might one day achieve a kind of popular cult status. :D

But then reality hit. That wasn’t going to work out the way I had imagined because …. there was no exit!

The exit is through the gift-shop, Barb!
Try to reach the pitlane!

Nevertheless, I hope that during doping control, they will only find Riesling in her blood, or Barb Hur will be disqualified and crucified (fine print of Roman doping regulations)

An excellent quick manip - well, I say quick, but that's only because I know a bit of the basic elements. Knowing Bob a bit, I expect there are 43 layers of overlay lighting, and his normal amount of care taken to get the figure of Barb right. :D I mean, look at the detail on Barb's hair and her facial expression. A splendid manip making the figure of Caprice look like she really did just happen to streak onto the pitch, or was thrown in as an added entertainment for the Circus audience. Her expression shows her mounting desperation and terror as the chariot threatens to run her down. She had better find that gift shop exit! :clapping::clapping:

As to whether it gets a cult following, who knows, but I think I'll try to grab a copy just to pull arena screenshots. :)
