DIONYSIA OF TUNIS SCOURGED IN THE ARENA
Dionysia was a Christian widow who lived in or near Tunis, North Africa. In 484 she and her sister Dativa fell victims to the persecution of the Vandal king Huneric, who was a Christian, too, but of the Arian denomination.
According to the legend Dionysia, Dativa, and other women were tied naked to columns and cruelly scourged. Later the women were burned.

MARCIANA OF MAURETANIA GIVEN TO WILD BEASTS
Marciana was the daughter of a wealthy Mauretanian family, but she left her hometown and all her wealth and preferred to live a simple and chaste life in another town. It is said, however, that she stood up against the superstition of the pagans and once shattered a sculpture of the pagan goddess Diana. For this sacrilege she was sent into the arena “ad bestias” in 303. According to the legend, the lion that was sent against her did not harm her, but only licked her feet. Then a bull was driven against her and injured her. Only the third animal, a leopard, managed to kill her.

PARASCEVA OF IKONIUM CRUCIFIED AND TORTURED WITH FIRE
During the reign of Emperor Diocletianus. In 300 an emissary of the emperor came to Ikonium and organized the persecution of the Christians. The daughter of a Christian couple living in Ikonium (today: Konya (Turkey). Parasceva was among those who refused to make a sacrifice to the pagan gods.
She was arrested and cruelly tortured. The executioners suspended her from a cross, raked her with iron combs and burned her flesh with torches. But she remained steadfast and refused to make the required sacrifice. In the end she was beheaded.

GUERE CRUCIFIED AS A CHRISTIAN REBEL
Aubet , Cubet and Guere are popular saints in South Germany and the alpine regions of Europe; they are often referred to as “3 holy virgins”.
They got separated from Ursula's group when they crossed the Alps, and had to flee from pagan marauders (Avars, Huns) to a remote mountain village, where they found shelter and provided medical and spiritual service to the villagers.
On their flight to the village or perhaps at a later time Guere was captured by the pagans and crucified in mockery of her faith.

The easiest and fastest way to saw a person in half is as it appears in the drawings above, however, throughout history it seems that it has been applied in a different way by sawing the person lengthwise.
In some ancient representations it appears how the victim begins to be sawed through the skull but I imagine that this would be difficult for the executioners and would also kill the victim as soon as the saw cut through the brain for the first time. That is why it is more credible that the victim began to be sawed from the crotch and ended at the head, since that would prolong the victim's suffering and fulfill the function of any good exemplary execution: entertain the people and discourage future criminals.
This representation is also not to be very realistic as it would be very uncomfortable for the executioners.
The correct form of the saw torture would be to hang the victim upside down and saw him little by little from the crotch with a huge lumberjack saw.
Even this form with the arms and legs open would be easier for the executors and more cruel for the victim since being upside down the brain would remain blooded and the victim would be conscious until the saw sawed through the entire belly and reached the sternum.
