The guards do a wonderful job of giving the crucified water. They don't mention it is so Raegan will suffer a longer time on the cross for the pleasure of the people passing by...

Looks the patrol did have some fun with her before they executed her.
Like the scene!

Well you see, when on the cross ...
the truth is one understands perfectly well what it is, that prolongs life ...
and on the cross ... life means suffering.

The cross slowly strangles me,
but if I could just stop breathing right now it would be over more quickly.
I can of course no more force myself to stop breathing than I can order my heart to cease its beat.

Could I refuse drinking ...
well perhaps, if I had all my willpower together,
I could refuse food and perhaps also water.

The cross however has a habit of weakening willpower ...
and will break it altogether,
long before the last sigh and the last stumbling beat of my heart.

I'll take whatever they offer that relieves me for a moment or a minute,
even if I know it will prolong my suffering far more than the time of that brief respite.
That's how it works and I know it.

I'm thankful to the soldier that he's offering me not some stinking sponge,
but a fine chalice full of clear, fresh water,
such a precious thing in this arid desolation.
Thank you Sir.

I can't be angry really at him for executing me,
it's the law,
it would have been done had I stayed
and it's now done after I ran.
They could have treated me far worse I know

... so again,
Thank you Sir.

I like the title you gave this on DevArt, 'Tormenting the girls' - that's essentially what pretty well all the guys come here to do - and at least a few of us girls quite enjoy it!
