There is now a really strange feeling in some regions in Germany. For the moment, this coronavirus seems to be under control but it maybe similar to the feeling of an alcoholic, who is "dry" now for some weeks and thinks, everything is almost normal again - and suddenly there is a "beautiful bottle" temptation in the room.
The official limits are now 50 new infections in a region per 100.000 inhabitants per week and some experts say, this could be too high, so some big cities like Berlin have lowered the limit to 20 - 30, because in such a big city the virus could easily spread again, for example in buses or subway trains.
But even I am now doubting sometimes, if some still existing restrictions here in my city are really still necessary, because during the last week we had not 20, 30 or 50 new infections, we had statistically 0.8 (zero point eight) ! On the other hand, if you were this last infected person 7 days ago in my city, you are certainly not happy about your fate right now.
But there is this dangerously growing feeling, why are we all doing these measures, when there seems to be no need any more in this region?
In any case, the situation in Germany is now exactly like in this very good article, I think:

There is a kind of stubborn stupidity in some persons which & who make me simply speechless and at the same time "almost angry" because their stubbornness is almost an attack on the intelligence of other persons in their country or even in their government cabinets.

When we look right now at Brazil, everyone must admit that there must be something going very wrong in this country, when TWO ministers for health of the nation resign in succession during only one month in the center of a pandemic because of quarrels with the president - and when the mafia gangs in the big Brazilian cities are imposing a lockdown in the slums whereas the president wants to keep the country in business as usual "because the economy cannot afford a lockdown just because of such a little flu ('gripezinha'), which is not more than a very little cold ('resfriadinho') ! "

This situation in Brazil right now is getting out of control like in a very dark, dystopian science fiction movie and everything there is the absolute opposite of the reactions of the German and most European governments and the statistics - and in the very end the size of all our cemeteries - will show the truth !

Brazil is in danger to become the world's hotspot of the coronavirus in about two weeks and the leading nations in the statistics are now as I predicted about two months ago, but Brazil with its size and its big population in extreme inequality will most probably become the real human catastrophe:

Pity Brazil !

Yesterday, I have met a very friendly young man, half German & half Turkish, I knew from working at the reception at a hotel I visited several times. I asked him what he was doing right now and he told me, he is not working at the hotel right now because there are so few guests because of the coronavirus that it closed for a month temporarily, so he worked for a company which is doing security- and surveillance-jobs at night of businesses or hotels which are now closed.
He said, it is a bit funny for him because in the hotel where I met him for the first time, he was told by the manager, "Der Gast / der Kunde ist der König!" (= The Guest / the customer is the King!) and he should always be friendly and apologize for every complaint, no matter how reasonable the complaint might be or not, no matter if it's day or night at the reception.
But now, at the security company, in a short training and instruction, the instructor told the new members of the security teams: "You are right now usually working in empty buildings but when we take you after the coronavirus times as members of our teams, you might be working again as security personnel in discotheques or at festivals and there you always have to remember this: "Der Gast ist Dein Feind!" (= The Guest is Your Enemy!) Every guest there, especially the drunk ones, is a potential enemy! Never let them go behind you or in your back; stand at your place best in a corner, have a wall behind you and observe! Try to protect the women and the normal guests and better call the police before you get into a real fight!"

My German-Turkish friend from the hotel found this very funny because this is now the opposite of behaviour he knew about guests from the hotel and he thought, this wil be an interesting and schizophrenic life for him when he gets back into his hotel.

This world can be so crazy and I have also read some stories in newspapers again, after which I really wanted once again to be abducted by some friendly female aliens.

There is an article in the British "The Guardian" after which I had this feeling - especially very strong after seeing the copied Twitter-films in it. How can some "human beings" be so aggressive and crazy because of wearing a protection mask? In Germany and the most European countries, the employees of the most supermarkets with such "customers" would immediately call the police and no doubt, the European police would take such persons into custody for some hours with "forced information lessons about dangers in a pandemic", in Germany I am absolutely sure about such lessons:

Hm, in the coming weeks, I will be here probably not so often any more. Maybe, I will have a new job soon about which I am not sure if I should be so happy. A hotel manager called me and asked if I could become the "night auditor" there.
It is not so good paid, but also not soo bad paid (1.500,- Euros NETTO, most probably plus some additional night-shift-payment), but I still have to negotiate about how many nights a month and how the health security is controlled in this hotel in coronavirus-times?
Mhm, on the other hand, it is probably not so much to work there right now and there were no registered coronavirus-cases in this area for almost three weeks now and - hey - this is Germany and we still only have three places of mass infections (about 150 suspicious cases each) in the whole country: 2 religious services of religious minorities (Hamburg, Frankfurt) and one oriental bar with waterpipes in Göttingen - nothing else any more!
So, we Germans can only confirm that it is not healthy ... a) to go to religious services too often ... and b) to smoke in an oriental bar!
I think, I will take this job just because there are some young pretty and very friendly women in the staff ... unfortunately I will probably be something like their grandpa ... but on the other hand, maybe, I meet a rich widow in my age as my guest in this hotel at night and she falls in love immediately with a good-looking man like me in the best ages ... (OK, I just remembered, this is the science-fiction-and-fantasy-thread here!)

In any case, there are also some rather funny videos about a crazy Japanese theory why some foreign speaking might cause more coronavirus cases:

Good to hear you have a job again! Some kind of night porter, I understand from the translation (there is a good movie about that job, a movie which has some renown on this forum - with Charlotte Rampling!).;)

Night (and weekend/public holiday) work aren't they extra paid? I think so! Or an extra number of paid holidays?

Everything depends on the "Arbeitsvertrag" (= employment contract) in Germany. It is very free and you can be hired as a hotel slave or almost as it's owner, so you have to be very careful what you are signing. In principle, there are always extra payments for night work, but there are also contracts, in which the payment is automatically included by the definition of the job. I will see the contract first and then I will decide. When I was a student, I have already worked like that and I am still thinking about writing a book on these times.
You can sometimes see incredible things at night in a "Grand Hotel". ...
Did I ever mention my "Rotkäppchen"-Story here? You will certainly know the fairy tale about the girl with the red cap (= "Rotkäppchen") and the big bad wolf?!
Isn't it "Red Riding Hood" or something similar in English?
Anyway, it was a Halloween's night in Germany and it is not yet so frightening like in the USA, but it gets more scary every year. In that night, it was rather "interesting" for me because around 2 o'clock in the morning, a young woman came out of the elevator in front of me and I thought: "Wow! This is an unusual costume for Halloween: Dressed in a very short costume in red with a red cap on the head, the face also a bit red like after a marathon running and a very attractive body inside the costume!" (Did I already mention how short and tight the costume was?) She asked me if we had condomes at the reception and indeed we had some. Then she went back to the elevator and I was very close to ask: "Hm, sorry, but after seeing the costume of "Rotkäppchen" at Halloween, could I also see the costume of the bad big wolf, please?"
Later in the morning, I told this story to the just arriving hotel manager and he said: "Good that you did not ask this question! A true gentleman enjoys and stays silent!"

I cannot help myself again, but when I look at "historical fantasy" like this "People's Front of Judia / Judaea" from "Life of Brian" ...

... and compare it to some modern times' "freedom fighters" like these ones ...

... I got the impression, there was not really so much change in human behaviour during the last 2.000 years ....

  ;)

...

Mhm, my new "Arbeitsvertrag" looks good, I think, but it could look better, because it really looks like "Arbeit" at night and I would rather like to have much more money and much less "Arbeit", e.g. like a diplomat in some nice small talks in the evening in a luxury hotel, discussing world politics while having sophisticated drinks in beautiful women's company - you know: a German diplomat and millionnaire in James-Bond-style playing at a French roulette table - if possible in Papeete/ Tahiti / French Polynesia - minus everything which could become really dangerous.

I even told this to my friendly, beautiful, young and humorous female civil servant at the German "Arbeitsagentur" and she said, if I ever find such a job and being millionnaire, she would start considering about being my escort service!

I thought: "Ahm!??? What???"

This was the moment, when I thought, I must have landed somehow in an absolutely unrealistic parallel universe, because the usual German civil servant would have told me, it is dangerous to say something like this in a German "Arbeitsagentur"! A male German civil servant probably would have thrown me out of the building, ... but now, I am really thinking about how to become a millionnaire as fast as possible because she is really pretty, obviously a bit naughty and she really seemed to like my silly jokes ...
Well, we will see ...

In any case, the hints and notes of having suddenly landed in a parallel universe are more and more to see.

For example, Germany is really no more the Germany of my youth, I think.

Like in a exaggerated fairy-tale, there once was an allegedly successful German company with the funny name "Wirecard" and two years ago, I even had enough money to think about buying shares of them - but I am somehow too conservative and I am only buying "things" of which I really understand how they work or "things" I can eat or drink, e.g. Coca Cola. I did never really understand how "Wirecard" could have made so much money. Last weekend, the German stock exchange was shocked by the news, that there are about 1.900 MILLIONS Euro missing in the total assets of this company.
The good news for the shareholders: The money was not stolen.
The bad news for them: This money never existed!

These 1.900 millions were most probably only an accountant trick to pump up the assets in order to make this company look like a successful global player.

Now, everyone in Germany seems to be shocked that something like this can happen in Germany and no one seemed ever to have asked, if so much money really existed in the assets of this company!?!

So, the share price curve looks so very "un-German" today as I have never seen before from a German share after WW II:

Ashampoo_Snap_2020.06.25_16h55m12s_002_.jpg Interesting ... mhm ... and I am feeling a bit of envy towards some sceptical share traders who were able to make speculative short sales about 10 days ago ...

If this could only be a worldwide coronavirus curve, everyone could be happy.

By the way, this coronavirus again is about to cause headaches for me, because there are two German counties with big slaughterhouses to be locked down again and we Germans can now "proudly" confirm that this virus really loves slaughterhouses with cooled worker's places (5 - 10 degrees Celsius are ideal for corona) where the workers are additionally talking loud because of the noise of the machines there and the breathing air of the workers stays as long in those rooms as the virus loves it. More than confirmed 1.300 new infections in the biggest slaughterhouse company there and the German "Bundeswehr" (army) now controls their company and makes the tests. Whenever you see on TV the German army with their special equipment in front of a slaughterhouse in peace times, you know that something must have gone terribly wrong there ...

Concerning "parallel universes", "terribly wrong" and "curves" ...

I really don't want to spread fear but when I look at the upper curve, I must say, there is also something going terribly wrong with this curve ...

Ashampoo_Snap_2020.06.25_11h49m52s_001_.jpg ... from this article (and I would really like very much to have exchanged the directions of the two different pictures of curves in this posting):

Beautiful, young, humorous and obviously very smart if she gets a secure job with a good pension. Get fired from your new job, then you can go back to see her!

The money probably still exists, but the present owners are now in a luxury hotel, somewhere in an exotic place, discussing world finance in the hotel bar, with some sophisticated drinks in front of them, and some sophisticated women at their sides!

Mhm, well, I once visited a lecture of a German professor who was an expert in "Betriebswirtschaftslehre = BWL" and he spoke also about "creative accounting". He told his students that some of them are probably once in their lifetime in a position where there might be once the temptation to make a very "creative accounting" after which their company might become "insolvent" and there might be the temptation to disappear with the money to a nicer place on this planet like the Bahamas or a nice other state.
Then he said:
"But please always keep in mind that you might never live in peaceful silence again after you "disappeared" from Germany, because Germany has a special section for economical crimes in its "Bundeskriminalamt", which is in parts similar to the FBI in the USA. The German "Zielfahnder" ("target investigators") from the "Bundeskriminalamt" belong to the best of the world and all the political, diplomatical and economical influence of Germany is behind them when they show their impressive special passports to foreign politicians or foreign police. These passports and their implied mandates are simply made to impress foreign authorities. The only missing license in their passports is James Bond's "license to kill" and as far as I know, they found almost everyone they were looking for since 1990 everywhere in the world!"

Two famous examples of found criminals are these two persons, "found" in Florida and Argentina, because of their very different crimes:

Right now, in the case of "Wirecard", some German "Zielfahnder" are said to be ready for a flight to the Philippines, where the probably "non-existing" money "disappeared" on "non-existing accounts", looking for the "accountant expert" of "Wirecard", Jan Marsalek, who is said to have disappeared there on the Philippines, too.
It is amazing, how many "things" are disappearing there. Being German, maybe it's better not to make holidays there right now ...

Right now, there is a report on TV that his lawyer told the German press, he will come back voluntarily to Germany because he knows from international TV that Germany is looking for him and already prepared an international arrest warrant.
Nice! That will spare a lot of money of German taxpayers ...

Additionally, there are sometimes "follow-up costs" which are forgotten by the criminals. There once was around 1998 the famous case of a German bank robber who tried to live a nice life in the Dominican Republic, but he did not expect to encounter the corrupt criminal police there, who offered him to stay in his villa, when he would fly back to Germany and rob another German bank twice a year, one loot for him, one loot for the corrupt police. He did this once, then he flew back to Germany and surrendered to the German police and said: "This was against my German crook honor! How deep could I sink, robbing a German bank for a foreign corrupt police? No, they shall go to prison like I will do!"

Funny, isn't it?

'my German Crook honour'?
'Meine Deutsche Gaunerehre'!?;)

And say that we still have seen in our lifetime the era when you were already safe in Franco's Spain!;)

Yes, it is sometimes incredible but correct. Even crooks can have a kind of honor and this is in German "Gaunerehre" or "Gauner-Ehre".
Definition of "Gauner" here:

A funny example can also be found here. In this article, there is a report about an Indian thief who felt betrayed because the victim exaggerated the loss and the thief complained about this to the police. Experts had estimated much less value than the victim told the police, so the probably "poor" thief wanted to file a charge against the probably "rich" victim, probably suspecting him of an insurance fraud and he as a honorable thief would not tolerate something like that because it was against his "honour" to be not only a thief but additionally used as a pretext for a fraud he did not at all take part in:

It is funny but I have heard of similar cases in Germany's history when the thieves were much poorer than their victims who later made the thieves angry by exaggerating the loss or using them for additional own frauds against their insurances.

And in the story of the bank robber, he felt misused by the corrupt policemen there who forced him to rob other banks in Germany for their own advantage.
Would you not feel misused as a "honorable" German bank robber to encounter corrupt policemen in a foreign country who force you to go on "working" home again for them instead of enjoying your robbed money aging in peace like Ronald Biggs (?):

I think, every "honorable" bank robber could get angry in such a case and surrender to his home police ("Home! Sweet Home!" and so familiar sweet prisons in Germany!)
:)

Ahm, I did not really understand the combination of Franco's Spain with the story above. Could you explain this a bit more, please?
