Sexy Hair for Crucifixion

Hair and Nails
Don’t pretend like you haven’t noticed. And not just in my art either. I mean really, how often do you see a woman on the cross with hair that is matted, a knotted mess, full of split ends, or torn out in chunks? Even the grittiest most brutal depictions of crucifixion she away from anything more extreme than bed head, partly, I imagine, to preserve some of the beauty of the victims.

It seems quintessentially feminine that, even when totally undressed and helpless to the ravages of torture, these women have their hair game on point. Here, women on the cross have beachy waves with perfect volume, or a pristine ponytail, or an even more complex and improbable hairstyle. But it’s a fantasy element I’d like to highlight, because sometimes realism takes a back seat to erotica.

So in this thread I’m gathering some of my favorite examples of sexy hair, of various styles, lengths, and colors. Of course these’ll run the gamut from photography and manipulations to cgi and drawings, any crux picture is fair play here. After all; when you are naked, the only bit of style you have left is your hair.

And of course, sometimes the image is just strongly reminiscent of crux...

Doesn’t take much imagination here, although I can’t find the manipulated version:

Now hair can often seem like a chore to draw - I would know. All of those different strands and textures and highlights! Of course some artists have an amazing ability to draw hair, an ability that suggests that they spent some time on getting it to look the way they wanted.

Steve Codero almost always features gorgeous waist-length hair on his crucifixae and his Passion of The Christ inspired Petra series is an stelar exemplar of his sytylistic approach to hair. Petra goes from a clean military bun when she is in control as a Jewish insurgent to a crown of thorns as she looses all control, and is nailed to a cross.

It’s interesting to note that she is actually quite modest during the parade with the patibulum, especially after her totally nudity during the scourging. No one quite knows how much damage has been wrought on her body just yet...

And of course, her sackcloth dress is violently ripped from her at the end of her punitive parade, just to add to the humiliation.

I love the nailing image: Her face, fiery with pain, surrounded by hair radiating every which way. And of course, it would be remiss of me not to point out that her hair goes from straight and neat to wavy and a little messy over the course of the series, with is a detail that stayed remarkably consistent despite how long the series took to complete.

This series really mirrors our own idea of a “stations of the cross” - it includeds stripping, carrying the patibulum, and raising the patibulum before the feet are nailed. But the most interesting way that Petra’s story plays out to me, is that it doesn’t end on her death, rather, it ends on her submission to the cross, and acceptance of the sponge of water.

of course, this thread couldn’t begin without posting some of Algabal’s amazing work. There are plenty of sadistic details to take in, but I feel like his attention to detail really shines on the hair in these recent pieces; it’s not just a static decoration behind the head, but a dyamic and flowing curtain, highlighing the shapes beneath it, and framing the pained face of the girl in relief.

#6, nice to see a Praetorian on guard

Honestly, mp5stab, to me, when a women is crucified(probably after being flogged to within an inch of her life)she is probably occupied with something other than how her hair looks in public. Thst said, maybe she prefers her hair to be long enough to cover her face and hide her visible expressions of humiliation and pain. That would make as much sense to me as anything.

for the most part, the majority of the times that I've been put on a St. Andrews and used or tortured, the Masters had all desired that I have all my make-up on and hair as sexy as possible......................I was glad to accomadate them!

Algabal added a flagellum and livid lashmarks to the lady with the flying black hair.

Algabal also did two takes on The Greek Girls. I’m no authority on 1st century BCE women's hairstyles, but those glossy ringlets that start at the scalp are all Greek to me.

In addition, :very_hot:.

I’ve always considered these Steve Cordero manips from the early 00’s to be astonishingly erotic. But it took Mp5stab to make me realize the artistic attention Steve lavished on the ladies' lustrous locks.

Very interesting and useful theme, "couse hair is one of the important part of woman. From this set, I think #2 is superb, with thin loincloth and Crossed feet, wonderful drawing.

Thanks for the additions Apostate. Helena is one of my favorite Codero pieces! We’ve certainly praised it for the posing, the realism, the gnashing of teeth, but now we pause to appreciate the hair.

(I can’t imagine myself saying that without some cheese and wine in my hand as I browse a trendy art gallery on female crucifixion.)

Anyway here’s more! Almost always featuring big breasts and voluptuous waist length hair, he had a type—hell, the shortest he ever drew hair was Didi’s mid length cut. I admire that level of consistency.
