The hair on his lady reminded me of early '70s Big Hair 'dos. Such could look rather sexy when in wanton disarray.

Never seen such blatant nipple-through-hair poking in any crux drawings I recall.

My favorite recent emulation is that of Montycrusto's "The Martyrdom of Saint Frigida the
Perpetual Virgin under Septimius Severus."

Try saying that three times real fast.

Then notice Jastrow's excellent work in translating Montycrusto's disheveled pen-and-ink hair into disheveled poser-prop hair.

I mean really, how often do you see a woman on the cross with hair that is matted, a knotted mess, full of split ends, or torn out in chunks? Even the grittiest most brutal depictions of crucifixion she away from anything more extreme than bed head, partly, I imagine, to preserve some of the beauty of the victims. ... After all; when you are naked, the only bit of style you have left is your hair.

... or the absence thereof. But shaven-headed girls seem to be pretty much non-existent in cruxart.
