I had the cross sticking through the ground plane in the pic, but the transition is indeed very straight.
Some post work with a smudge tool could have made the transition area more organic.
Indeed a point to take into account next time with HDRI stuff:p

Yes, the straight lines at the base of a cross may look unnatural. Covering these lines with small copy-paste leaves and/or rocks is an option.

In ths case a crucified slavewoman on the way to Meereen in Game of Thrones.
Or is it one of the wise mistresses crucified in retaliation after Meereen was captured?
