I've had this Princess Leia model installed for a very long time. So long that I had forgotten it was there, so this would seem like an opportune moment to do something with her, if only to remind everybody of those far off days, a long time ago in a studio far, far away from the filthy hands of the Disney corporation, when Star Wars was still good...
A couple of test renders just to see how she looked;
And here in a location more befitting a princess;
Yeah I know it's not a true Star Wars location, but I have to lick with the tongue I've got, so in the absence of some proper Star Wars environment models, We'll have to settle for this for the time being;
RIP Carrie Fisher - that tonedeaf airhead Daisy Ridley has nothing on you, and never will have...

Thank you so much for your kind words, but I fear that you flatter both myself and my skills far more than I deserve - I didn't create this model, I merely found it online ages ago - all I did was to pose her and add the palace background (also from a free website - possibly sharecg.com, but not sure, it was a long time ago)Comparable to Rogue One's CGI resurrection of Ms. Fisher.

It ceases to be uncanny when the cgi gets to be so good that you really can't tell it's not real. This of course is the ultimate goal of cg artists, but while the technology available to the big film studios might be able to achieve that, it will still be some time before this becomes easily available to the rest of us, though it will definitely happen - just look at how the 3D art in here look now compared to just 5 or 6 years ago...
Having said that, even Hollywood often fails with cgi - just look at the Marvel movies, especially some of the more recent ones, and I'm not talking here about the ridiculous cookie-cutter action sequences, but in Avengers Endgame, they didn't even fit the actors' heads to the cg bodies properly
In general, the cgi used in the MCU movies has never looked particularly convincing. Maybe that's the idea - to exaggerate reality, but my feeling is that it's just poor effort by soulless corporations who are scrambling to release new movies every couple of months and to hell with the quality.The best cgi is that where you can't tell it is cgi - Jurassic Park was made over a quarter of a century ago and the cgi in that is still miles better than you see in most modern movies. Maybe they try to hide the sloppy cg with fast paced action. Well it doesn't work

Indeed so. There are very few actresses who go on to become genuine cultural icons. Unlike many, she was so grounded in the real world and never fell into the trap of believing her own publicity. This is why we all love her so much and why she will live on forever in our collective memories.
