Of Good Friday, Justine, Pygmalion, The Prohibition/Holy Week Sale​

April begins dry... for those who didn't get their booze in time. In a 'secular' country to actually force people to observe the No Drinking commandment of the Holy Church, is kind of strange, right? But there it is. If you go to have dinner to a nice restaurant, let's say a good Italian restaurant, and you order some amazing pasta and, as it should be, a good wine to go with it... they won't serve you wine! ... It doesn't matter that you remind them that Jesus himself had his apostles drink wine during the Last Supper, and that he turned water into wine when there wasn't enough to party at a wedding! So... no alcohol this weekend in Bolivia, unless you have unending supplies of it in your home, as we do. So... Cheers!

And with that note, I go into JUSTINE, the production that is beginning to take shape. This is a complicated production, it requires a lot of pre-production work, with all the costumes, props, torture instruments, locations and so on. The most difficult part is to get all those things not knowing exactly how many of those things we'll need since we haven't been blessed with the script yet. We get instructions such as "We'll need two changes of clothes for four prostitutes" or "we'll need uniforms for six soldiers, including their weapons" So off we go looking for uniforms and weapons... oh... and those wigs. Pre-French revolution wigs, non ANY wigs.

So... the pre-production for JUSTINE is going on at full speed. However, there's so much to get together, the movie is so grand, that while we do that we'll be shooting another gem: PYGMALION, Jac and Amy's erotic version of the famous play. I say Jac and Amy because Jac is writing the script and Amy will be directing it. Jac is not only writing the two scripts, he's also very busy preparing the stars for their fabulous roles. I hope to have many pictures soon. Here's what is filtering through to my fingers.

We'll be going into production in a few days,. we'll not stop until we complete 2 movies, and then we'll start again. Yes, we're full of plans for the near future. But today is a day when we can't have a drink. Why? Holy Week. I can't deny that religion has inspired us to produce a lot of religious related movies, like Martyr.

When 'Mark of the Devil' was filmed, they found some German Schloss
with an ideal Torture Chamber equipped with the necessary furniture and machinery -
though as Gaby Fuchs said in an interview, "it was a bit big for me!"

(I think they stretched her till she fitted :devil:)​

A lot has been said about Barbazul. Charles Lonberger said: This Latinization of Bluebeard is the most successful adaptation of that fairy tale to the cinema to date, as, in it, cineaste Amy Hesketh subtly expands her thematics from her already established central concern of Control (of one being over another) to Complicity. Hesketh primarily achieves this through her self-scripted treatment, which portrays the ironic tragedy of a man who, unable to control the compulsions that have taken control of him, seeks to assert control over others by murdering them. This concept is brought to life by the superlative interpretation of Jac Avila in the title role, which imbues a character often sketched as a mere villain with a melancholic countenance.

For some reason I'm unable to upload images, so, I tested linking images instead and it works, but they show in their regular size. I recall in the past I was banned for a long time for UPLOADING images and select the option of regular size instead of Thumbnails. I thought it was optional... but no, ALAS I WAS BANNED for an honest mistake.

But they weren't links.

So... without further due, here's my test. If I'm banned... well... but if contacted, I can remove this post. Thank you all for your understanding. If this is permitted, I will post the rest.

Famous Amy in Fangoria! and getting ready for JUSTINE!​

I finally read the feature article about OLALLA in the very famous horror film magazine Fangoria, and it is really, really good. Mostly based on an interview Bill Burke did with her, the article portrays Amy as a force to reckon and the film OLALLA as a film that has to be seen.

The opening paragraph contains this comment: While Hesketh's films (previously covered in Fangoria #323) unflinchingly portray graphic violence and sex, she actually works on a much deeper emotional level. This sweet faced girl from Maine wants to slice open your most cherished concepts of love, faith and family and force you to look at the ugly stuff hiding inside.

Cool. Below is how page 1 (of 3) looks like. You might be able to read part of the article there, but I do suggest you actually buy the magazine and keep it in a safe place... it will be a collector's item, believe you me.

There's a new interview with AMY in the blog Horror Mansion. It's a good read.

There are more articles and interviews coming up, both with Amy and Jac. One in particular will be coming soon where Jac reveals some of his plans for JUSTINE. It is becoming clear to me that Jac's version of the famous novel will be the ULTIMATE adaptation of De Sade's Justine. It will go beyond De Sade's story itself. Big claim, right?.

The script is there, all there, ready for breakdown and scheduling. There is, however, one part of the film that is like a canvas, one that needs to be colored over with different shades of torture. A good part of the scenes in this particular segment of the movie are already written. Jac calls this segment of the movie: Justine in the Dungeon.

There are so many possibilities and yet, time constrains. A film cannot be 10 hours long, right? So he can only choose a few of those nasty events brewing in his mind. That's where he will need some kind of help... perhaps some kind of encouragement.

And that's where the IndieGo campaign will come in very handy. Will there be a nasty rotating WHEEL? A wicked RACK? Watery perils for Amy and anyone nearby?... Amy awaits to know what will become of Justine in the Dungeon. Do you have any ideas?
