It is the year 2050.
The first interplanetary voyage is on its way to Jupiter’s moon Europa.
For this long space flight, NASA has selected an all-female crew, because simulated missions have shown that they are much more empathic and cooperative than male astronauts, whose individualistic attitude to dominate, creates too much conflict.
Dangers underway are asteroids, cosmic radiation, and, most of all…boredom! Extreme boredom!
Every message sent to Earth travels one hour. The reply also travels one hour back. Communication is a matter of long waiting.
Long waiting creates boredom. They have read 'Fifty shades of grey' ten times already. The same for all the episodes of 'Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman', 'Days of our lives', 'Sturm der Liebe' and 'Neighbours'. They cannot hear those names any more.
What do you do about it? How to kill time in deep space?

Are they fighting for her life? Or her freedom? Or possibly her ownership?

Amina was kneeling submissively. But she was not submissive. She kneeled that way because strong chains from front and back of her collar held her down to the ground, but chains up from her wrists prevented her sitting or lying in a less humiliating way.
She watched intently the two gladiators fighting in the arena. Watched every strike, parry and feint. Memorised their style, their tactics.
Because the winner of that contest had the 'honour' of killing her. That was what the governor thought would happen. They would give her a short blunt sword, let her wear her helmet, but otherwise she would go out and fight virtually naked.
Amina was still confident. She wasn't impressed by the skills she saw in front of her. It was bad luck that her army had been defeated, and she was captured, not lack of skill on her part.
She would win the next fight. Then they would have to treat her with honour.
The governor was also disturbed by the skill displayed by the gladiators. He whispered to his aide "Start to prepare a cross, Amina will regret winning the next fight."
Sadly, Amina appears to be hopelessly naive ... those Roman governors are so wicked!
