Jastrow's Pic of the Day

Well I like them both, but the second one a little more than the first. I think I like the Roman in the second one more for his facial expression and for the fact that he carries a whip. Also the whip marks on her body seem more realistic. I miss the tears, though, on her face in the first.
And that Roman 2 isn't wearing a mini-skirt. Looks great on Barb, not so great on a Roman :D :p

I like her posture and expression more in #1, but the soldier's better in #2 -
as to the ropes, #1 don't look strong enough, but #2 a little too neat and tidy,
I doubt they'd have bothered to get them that straight.
But they're both great Jastrow manips, hardly need criticising!
My opinion too! I have a little preference for #1.

Monday, February 05, 2018–Day 36: From 2006. It is called "Unfinished Business". I guess it was the circling birds that still had things do. I always felt the upside down hanging hair was less than successful...
There is something about inverted crucifixions that just turns me on! Great work as always!

Wednesday, February 07, 2018–Day 38: Sometimes you just feel a little red....which is, I suppose, better than feeling a little blue. From 2012, it is called "Red Cross r".

I Ike her, Jas. No drama or backstory, just a lovely lady and a striking composition, pleasing to the eye. Excellent work.

Thursday, February 08, 2018–Day 39: Here’s on from 2015 called "Roped Ordeal r". Being crucified with ropes as opposed to nails was no bargain. The victim might well last longer without the loss of blood (although it was probably less than I show in my renderings) and there might be somewhat less of a chance of infection. The victims would be spared the immediate agony that came from the actual nailing. But it still hurt. Ropes supporting a body’s weight would cut deep into the flesh and the resulting loss of circulation to the wrists and hands would be extremely painful. The fact that they could be taken down from the cross more easily with ropes than nails would add an interesting dimension--it would spare the victim of the finality of their death that nails bring and might offer a small glimmer of hope. Still, what was next for them? How crippled would they be from their ordeal? Would they be crucified again or subject to other tortures? The position in this rendering looks very painful and it looks like there are a couple of birdies waiting for their meal...

I like this one very much. It’s not only the use of ropes, but the way the arms are bound back over the patibulum. I’ve always found that position fascinating ... one of the attractions, for me, of our CruxForums masthead, and of the character Rakel in Markus’ recently reposted epic. I would like to more know about the effects of being crucified in that manner on the victims.

Barb, sometime ago I ran this Algabal drawing by Jedakk. I asked him if someone crucified in this fashion would asphyxiate absent further support, like sedile or cornu.

It was a key plot point in a story I’m dreaming up. He thought unlikely this arms-behind-the-patibulum position would interfere with respiration over time, prolonging the ordeal. And it would hurt like unto a bitch, especially in the shoulders.

Which is the whole point, I reckon. Thinking of trying it yourself?

In this position, the armpits (and shoulders) carry the entire body weight. The ropes around the ankles and wrists are only for immobilisation. It could spare the limbs from interrupted blood circulation. But the pressure under the arms is most probably very painful.

Could be days then instead of hours! Yikes!!!

Not sure about the 'pure' bit :p

I've tried hanging with my shoulders back over a bar in that 'hogtied' position,
it's very, very nasty, even for a very few minutes. A bit like the 'parrot perch' torture,
with the strain on the shoulders instead of the knees.

I googled "parrot perch torture."

Yikes.
