In the same vein as the film "Quo Vadis" there is the film "Fabiola" which dates from 1949 and also has some beautiful scenes of martyrs being executed in the arena.

SYNOPSIS
In ancient Rome, the daughter of the senator Fabiola falls in love with a gladiator, Rhual. The murder of Fabiola's father begins the Roman persecution of the Christians. Rhual, a Christian, will have to fight to the death in the arena...
