I Just came across those pictures on the net
then searched deeper and read the history.
i remember the scene in Chouans where they
roughly chopped her hair before leading her
to the guillotine, to me the best guillotine
scene ever , interesting thing was as her head
was locked into the lunette the blade was on it`s
way down, those executions were really quick

But The other night on Talking Pictures there was movie called Reilly
Ace Of Spies. it was set in Russia just before the first world war where the
Japanese navy attacked the Russian fleet and sunk it. Now all through
the movie they kept saying the death penalty for spies, wrong doers etc
was crucifixion even Reilly sent his wife back to england so she would`nt
be crucified. I know this was just movie but did crucifixion still get used
long after the Romans just curious really , and you must remember

Ace Of Spies. it was set in Russia just before the first world war where the
Japanese navy attacked the Russian fleet and sunk it. Now all through

Short answer, no and no.

Crucifixion as inflicted by the Romans stopped with Constantine, and was never a penalty in either Kievan Rus, Tsarist Russia, or the Soviet Union. Why that was written into that program puzzles me. I never saw Reilly Ace of Spies, but from what I read it wasn’t sensationalistic.
