That's reassuring, and I'm grateful for the compliment - I think your autocorrect has turned me from 'sane' to 'same',
but I'd settle for (trying to be) a wise and crazy person
Indeed I'm familiar with John Norman's Gor novels - as I'm sure are most of the folk active here, and if your novel reminds your editor of those, it certainly won't be out of place here. I think the general consensus is that Norman's scenario with its planet of hunky male warriors and sexy slavegirls is an enjoyable, erotically exciting one, the book-covers (especially those by Boris Vallejo) are splendid pieces of soft-porn fantasy, but the novels themselves, especially the later ones, are clunky and not really up to the standard of the best writing we've had here. So if (as I guess) your editor was comparing your work with the themes and scenes of the Gor novels, rather than the prose style, you should consider it an encouragement.
Of course, the fantasies we explore here in writing and artwork are likely to be troubling to a good many people, profoundly wrong and bad to some, and we sometimes debate the ethical and psychological questions arising, but - again, giving what I think is the typical view of the majority of active members here - we believe that being honest with ourselves and exploring our 'dark' side is helpful to ourselves and each other, and that - far from encouraging us to act out our evil thoughts in real life, it actually makes us better, gentler people. Certainly the many friends I've made here seem to me to be thoroughly good, kind folk - much more so than many of the self-righteous, politically correct preachers of morality I encounter elsewhere.
