(though actually you don't even get to them until p.4 of the OED,
the first three pages contain more than anyone can possibly want to know about the letter A :eek:)

Yes, I did prefer the Cane over having to write out a two page essay! Over much more quickly.

The fact I still remember it vividly after 55 years, and I didn't even like chewing gum, only took some from a friend to fit in (he got punished too).
