The Cruxton Women’s Correctional Facility is a small prison in Cruxtonia for the incarceration of convicted females. Even though the prison is not large the population is kept under control.
The warden is the ruthless Madame Wu smoking Jane Tree who is the mistress of His Majesty Despard Wragg.
She introduced the policy that when the prison population the prisoner with the longest tenure will be removed. Oh, she will not be set free. You see, every convict has been sentenced, some to death by hanging but others are sentenced for a term of a certain number of years however their sentence also includes removal from the prison as needs arise.
The process used to be simple. The guards would come for prisoner and cuff her hands behind her back. There was no need to strip her as the Cruxton Women’s Correctional Facility does not provide the prisoners even smock to wear.
Then the guards would escort her from her cell.
They would lead her down the corridor to the prison gallows. As she is marched to her fate the other prisoners would wish her luck, or bid farewell, or morbidly wish her a swift death.
The prisoner’s execution had not been announced but everyone knew when she was out of sight it would be the last time they would see her.
The gallows were in a dimly lit room but the thick rope of the noose could not be missed by the condemned woman.
It took only a moment to pull the noose over her head and tighten it around her neck.
By the cruel orders of Warden Tree the prisoner’s drop was short and certainly not enough to break her neck. She would hang with her eyes bulging as she gasped to take in what few breaths she could get.
She would kick and gurgle for air for more than five minutes before the noose closed tight around her neck.
Her face would contort from the pain of the noose stretching neck and closing her airway. The hanging crew would come down and look at the dead woman’s body. There would be no rush to take her down.
The correction facility’s rules required that she would hang for two hours. There was to be no chance of having her survive and have to hang her again.
But changes are coming as we shall soon see.
