Stumbling Seeker
I feel myself pushed forward,
and the veiled priestesses close their ranks behind me.
Once I was one of them.
It is no coincidence,
that what they've veiled are their faces,
and nothing else -- I'm severed from them,
the doubt and fear and pleading in my eyes,
can find no recognition in theirs.
I am already no longer of this world,
standing, with trembling heart, between the two.
I could let myself crumble to the ground asking it to swallow me,
but Mother Earth too would reject me as I'm promised to the sky-lords.
So I close my eyes and take the first hesitant step forward.
and the veiled priestesses close their ranks behind me.
Once I was one of them.
It is no coincidence,
that what they've veiled are their faces,
and nothing else -- I'm severed from them,
the doubt and fear and pleading in my eyes,
can find no recognition in theirs.

standing, with trembling heart, between the two.

but Mother Earth too would reject me as I'm promised to the sky-lords.
So I close my eyes and take the first hesitant step forward.
