Well said, Hondo. I always liked ELP - I have an old copy of Brain Salad Surgery - the one with the classic fold-out cover designed by HR Giger - You don't get stuff like that with the CD version...

Also, "I Believe In Father Christmas" by Greg Lake is my all-time favourite Christmas record.

You are so right Darkprincess, that is a great album, and a great cover. I also have the fold-out cover, it is a great work of art, both the music, and the artwork. Since the title "Brain Salad Surgery" is slang for fellatio, HR Giger originally had the top of a phallus right under the chin of the lady ( which was modeled after his girlfriend Li Tobler, who also was a model in many of his artworks). The story goes that the record company refused to release the album with that cover, and Giger refused to remove it, so it was airbrushed out. If you look closely, you can still make out the top of the phallus under her chin ( it looks like a bright ball of light). I wish they had released the album with the original art:devil:
As for "I Beleive In Father Christmas", I also enjoy that song, but it won't be the same this Christmas:(:(

I spent last night playing King Crimson's "In The Court Of The Crimson King", and "In The Wake Of Poseidon" at ear bleeding levels, tonight I will spin "Brain Salad Surgery", and "Trilogy" at the same levels:), and lift my glass of Maker's Mark to the passing of a great musician:(

No, but this already poignant song will be elevated to a new level as it is certain to become a soaring musical memorial to Greg Lake, given the time of year that he so sadly left us.

And I will join you in doing so.

It's strange, but this has been a year of great losses to the world of music, yet not since Bowie have I felt the loss of a musician as much as I do now upon hearing yesterday of the passing of Greg Lake...

One of the true greats...

John Glenn and his fellow early astronauts and cosmonauts were true heroes. They did the things they did with no expectation of reward and only a slim chance of survival for the good of their nation and the future of mankind and the desire to do what had never been done before.

Its sad to hear of the passing of Greg Lake, and surprising to hear it here first. I found this amusing statement about Father Christmas in a recent interview:
“When Pete Sinfield and I wrote I Believe In Father Christmas it was about how Christmas had deteriorated and was in danger of becoming yet another victim of crass corporate financial exploitation. As much as I love everyone having a good time, it’s more than 12 pints of lager and a crate of Baileys. It’s more important to make some spiritual human contact, or visit someone lonely. We never had any commercial or financial intentions, but of course now everyone wants to know how it feels to receive all the lovely royalties, which are apparently delivered by wheelbarrow by Santa himself, after a long day climbing down everybody’s chimneys.”
In some recent concerts, Lake joined his musical step children Trans Siberian Orchestra - who make wheelbarrows full of money off Xmas themselves - to perform Karn Evil 9. Music of my adolescence. Brain Salad Surgery was one of the first albums I bought with my own money.

Thank you for your help. Although very lovely, it is not the one. I believe that the pose is very similar. It looks to me like a model by the name of Alice, who once posed for Makar.
Hi ctcua, you are quite correct in identifying my model as Alice Kiss, who posed for Makar nearly ten years ago. I have been trying to find the picture to which you refer and think it may be a manipulation by thehangingtree. I could not find it either (he posts in numerous threads) but this morning he has just re-posted it in 'The Caribbean Pirate Adventure...' Is this the picture you were looking for? -

Yes it is. I had started to think that my quest might go unfulfilled when all of a sudden, there it was. Someone either up there, or down there, must have thought I deserved an early Xmas present, although who knows why? Thank you all who had given of their time to help me find this picture. By the way, has it really been ten years since Alice posed for all those pictures? Damn, how time flies by. Does anyone know what she's been up to since she modeled for all those fantastic pictures?

I'd like to wish all you wonderful people a Merry Christmas, much joy and happiness and hope you all have wonderful holidays each and everyday throughout the coming year.

Thanks ctcua, and a Merry Christmas to you too. I was recently speculating about Alice in Top-Cat's thread

oh no - url is the internet address at the top of your screen (Uniform Resource Locator, apparently),
starting www.cruxforums.com/xf/
Thanks, that makes sense to me now.
Pp is NOT an IT expert but He thinks that the URL will give you the address of the forum page but you can tap/click on the #post number next to the 'like' button to get a link to the post itself.
