I will be in and out for a while. I am having problems with my eyes and need a operation.
With luck it will save my sight. Maybe improve it!!
we'll be thinking of you, and missing you while you're away

Thanks all.
I have a cataract in one eye and I am blind in the other. its going to be interesting but the prognosis is good.
I'm a bit late on this one Gibbs but I hope all works out for you with your surgery. If it's any consolation I had cataract surgery/implants 25 years ago on both eyes and later laser for a separate problem (totally painless, you only see a flashing green light). After the cataract surgery everything became extremely bright and rest assured I can see naked women perfectly fine. :D

Thanks, that helps!!

The doctors would not consider upgrading me as I had a previous operation for a macular hole.
The standard surgery of cataract is changing the natural lenses with synthetic lenses. And it exist mono- and multifocal lenses.
Mono - for near or wide seeing
Multi - for near and wide seeing

I wish many success!

I had cataract surgery on my right eye last year. I had let it go for a long time and it had gotten pretty bad. It was like looking through a fogged up window and I had almost no peripheral vision on my right side. To be honest, I probably shouldn't have been driving.
The whole procedure only took about 3 hours with the actual surgery only lasting about 4 minutes. The only complication was some wrinkling of the cornea that took a few days to clear-up.
I now have a wider field of vision and colors are much sharper. There is a smaller, immature cataract in my left eye that's not really affecting my vision yet so I'll wait a few years to get that fixed. However, by switching back and forth, I can see a distinct difference. Through my right eye, the disk of your avatar is a bright white. Through the left, it's a light beige.
My only complaint was with the anesthesia. There was no pain, during or after, all I felt was a slight tug as they pulled the lens out. But, I didn't even get a light buzz off it. I brought my mother along because they said I should have someone to drive me home; but, honestly, I could have done it my self. :D
Anyway, that was my experience. I hope things go as well for you and you'll be able to enjoy the lovely pictures here soon.

Thanks, everyone has assured me of the same experience.
I am reassured.
