I've just come across some remarkable b & w photos by a pair of guys active in Tunisia and Morocco around 1900, Rudolf Franz Lehnert 1878 - 1948 (b. in Hungary) and Ernst Heinrich Landrock 1878 - 1966 (b. in Switzerland). They evidently specialised in Berber girls, some of them real-life slaves, whose dress code was evidently not strictly Sharia. Original prints are on offer on the net at eye-watering prices, I guess they're well-known in some circles!
