L' Histoire D' O

To reduce "Histoire d'O" in a succession of pornographic drawings is easy, sure!
And easy is the "avant-propos" which eliminates all criticism...
But where is the deep sense of "Histoire d'O", here ?
Just my opinion....

I think the point that Messaline is trying to make is that the foreword could be seen as a simple disclaimer. A neat little act of washing ones hands rather like Pilate of any need to either adhere to the flavour and thought and feeling of the original work while claiming the shield of one of the better known works of erotica against accusations of pornography.

I like the pics I think they are superior pornography but I can understand the point that they are more pornographic than strictly erotic (while being aware that any such judgement is subjective to a high degree). I do think I would almost prefer them if they did not claim an origin in O but still I do feel that they are worth sharing. I just intend to keep Messaline's wise words of caution in mind while I peruse them.

I don't think it's at all easy to do drawings of that quality,
whatever we think of the subject-matter.
For me, the best - and they're the ones that are less intensely close-up,
especially ones showing the woman's face,
do capture the eroticism of L'h. d'O.
The relentless close-ups of anatomical detail
don't do so much for me,
but even they are skilfully composed,
and very well drawn.

Yes, perhaps some women (like me) prefer erotism: what is pure pornographic
has always hurted my soul...
Icant nothing again this, it's me...;)

Tree will wade in on two levels...

one, he doubts these are 'pure' drawings. Predating any photo shop type programs it was widely known to take a photo print, pencil or ink it, the immerse the image in certain chemicals to remove the 'photo'. My father showed me how to do it when I was a little tyke (though with less racy subject matter) and the same effects are much easier and ecologically friendlier in today's computer programs...

As for pornography, erotic art, are whatever tree respects anyone's opinion and hopes that is reciprocated...

I read the book many years ago and i have seen about 3 different films titled ` The Story of O` . I would recommend if any of you out there have not read the book , buy or borrow a copy sit down and read it

If you use the same subject the proportions stay very accurate...

I don't have it but I think a pro version of Photoshop will take a color photo and with the click of a tool key it is done!!!
