Nostalgia - Music

When you're here with me
this room has no walls,
but trees, infinite trees.

When you're here with me
this violet ceiling
no, it's no longer there...
I see the sky above us

Let's stay here, abandoned,
as if, as if there were nothing,
nothing, no more in the world.

A harmonica sounds
to me like an organ
that vibrates through you and me
in the immensity of the sky.

For Hans!

Quando sei qui con me
questa stanza non ha più pareti
ma alberi, alberi infiniti.

Quando sei qui vicino a me
questo soffitto viola
no, non esiste più...
Io vedo il cielo sopra noi

che restiamo qui, abbandonati
come se, se non ci fosse più
niente, più niente al mondo.

Suona un'armonica:
mi sembra un organo
che vibra per te e per me
su nell'immensità del cielo

Can I share another favourite from Françoise?
very nice - the great thing with Françoise is
one can hear clearly and (mostly) understand what she's singing about -
which is more than I can say for a good many singers in English :p

And in a really soppy nostalgic mood, one of my very favourite ones from the wonderful ABBA....
mm - schmaltzy, but that's well-sung too (the subtitles are totally unnecessary!)

I always liked this one hearing it when I was a kid.

For you Luna and Messa.

Try a Little Tenderness

Oh, she may be weary
Young girls they do get weary
Wearing that same old shaggy dress, yeah yeah
But when she gets weary
Try a little tenderness, yeah yeah

You know she's waiting
Just anticipating
For things that she'll never, never, never, never possess, yeah yeah
But while she's there waiting, without them
Try a little tenderness (that's all you gotta do)

It's not just sentimental, no, no, no
She has her grief and care, yeah yeah yeah
But the soft words, they are spoke so gentle, yeah
It makes it easier, easier to bear, yeah

You won't regret it, no, no
Some girls they don't forget it
Love is their only happiness, yeah
But it's all so easy
All you gotta do is try, try a little tenderness, yeah
All you gotta do is, man, hold her where you want her

Squeeze her, don't tease her, never leave her
Get to her, try, try
Just try a little tenderness, ooh yeah yeah yeah
You got to know how to love her, man, you'll be surprised, man
You've got to squeeze her, don't tease her, never leave
You've got to hold her and rub her softly
Try a little tenderness, ooh yeah yeah yeah
You've got to rub her gentle man, all you gotta do, no no
You've got to love her, squeeze her, don't tease her
Gotta try nah nah nah, try
Try a little tenderness, yeah, watch her groove
You've gotta to know what to do, man
Take this advice

How about "Crazy" by the one and only Patsy Cline. I just love her, even though her hits where before I was born.

My favorite female Motown group.....Martha Reeves and the Vandellas....here is the original "Heatwave"....what a great song....much better than Linda Ronstadt's version....more passion and soul.

When I want to go back to another time to escape today's craziness, the Beatles are number one on my list for that nostalgia trip. I was too young to to appreciate them during the 60's, but I got into them in the 70's. There is not a single song they perform that I have not liked. So many are favorites, I could not just pick one as a favorite. Because John Lennon was my favorite Beatle, I tend to enjoy his the most. I cannot believe it has been 35 years since his untimely death from being shot by that lunatic in Dec. 1980. For some reason I have always loved this song of his, "Across The Universe"
This is from the Mono masters, it is a different mix, a little faster than the version on Let It Be. It has the bird sounds in it, because it was originally donated to a compilation album to raise funds for the World Wildlife Fund called "No One's Gonna Change Our World". I love this version of the song. A lot of the Beatles songs have different mixes on the mono versions. After the craziness we have seen around the World in the last few days, this is kind of soothing, just what a nostalgia trip should be:)
