And in one shed this set of manacles sadly hangs abandoned and unused.
And yes, it is made for a female prisoner, it is obvious when one have a closer look and will note the very small size of the wrist irons.
Quite sad that one such marvelous antique will be abandoned and left unused like this. but that's life I guess.

Lets hope so Eulalia it is so sad having this superior craftmanship go to waste, just look at the fine details the edge is rounded upward so they're comfortable in long term use.

...and did I mention the sheer weight of this set!
The weight will have quite some impact, on the prisoner who is forced to wear it, not to mention that the bar holding the legcuffs will prevent any attempt to get up the flight of stairs to steal cookies and cake from the fridge at night.

Oh well, we better remember to lock the door to the cell then, and add one chain from this set that attach it to the prison cell wall as well.
So no squatting in the kitchen and stealing of cookies at night

Here I have spent quite some time telling how beautiful and well designed these irons are, not to mention how they've been made for comfort when they're to be worn for a decade or four.
So they're not cruel, they're beautiful and of a most exclusive kind. Most prisoners in the year of 17 hundred take or give a few years or something would have BEGGED to wear this set instead of the usual rickety manacled made by the less competent local blacksmith!

See now I would wait and see which slave girl's were best at cookie raiding. I would then promote them and set them to watching that none of the other girls got their mites on the cookies cupboard handle...after a good flogging of course as incentive to remind them what would happen if they were outwitted, outfoxed or out for lunch when I wanted a cookie!

no indeed, Sir Prior, those are unquestionably the Rolls-Royce of girl-shackles -it's the compulsory cookie fast that's supremely sadistic!
They sure are, and am amazed on how well made they are.
Therefore I don't think they were made to be used for any lesser person who have committed any minor crime.
But as some sort of example for everyone else, saying see what will happen to you - and so a real deterrent to commit any crime.
So it have had to bee something that were quite offensive to one aristocrat victim, that without being really bad - like stealing the duchess jewels or something.
(This said as a hint if you find yourself in a time warp and don't want to spend your life toiling in the fields as a peasant.)

Saying that is indeed the reason I think the middle ring is so high, since it do not go around the waist, but around the chest - that in case the female prisoner do indeed develop a rounder belly over the year. There be no reason to remove these chains for that reason - now that the belly is not encircled but the chest where hardly anyone get any larger over the years.
Now that we're on the subject of chains and have seen some art - I can already hear the calls 'get on with it' so think it is time we have a look at the work of Yoshinaga.
He sure have made some imaginative contribution in the field of slave trade, unusual prison cells and whatsnot.

I do agree on that. Some of them sure have put a spin in more heads than mine.
(....Which is spinning anyhow, but not to worry, the single braincell in there have got that much empty space it wont bump into anything regardless.)
