As I understand it, from those who have done such things, extreme piercing produces a large amount of endorphins creating a nature high. Studies of acupuncture patients showed an increase in endorphins, so there may something to this, although this goes way beyond acupuncture.

An chemical similar to an opiate produced by the body in response to pain.

I think Naraku's saying that if a girl's pierced with needles or hooks,
she'll get a big rush of endorphins, like a strong drug
that at least kills the pain and may give her a lot of pleasure.

I think that's true for me to some extent, at least with whipping,
though I'm still not so sure about some of these other varieties of BDSM,

I couldn't think of a better way of stating things so that TC would understand. Hopefully, you cleared things up for him.
Endorphins do play a roll in the pleasure of bondage when things like flogging or piercing (which I'm not into) are involved. Meanwhile, the experience of helplessness, retraint & surrender have a psycological impact. BDSM , for the sub at least, is an experience of both the mind & the body.
