Actually, there are some interviews with Lucy Lawless:
(1) She was pregnant when this scene was shot--hence Gabriel's relatively more revealing attire.
(2) It WAS cold, filmed in winter, and the scene took a while. The South Island of New Zealand has a temperate climate, and there is skiing in the "Alps" in winter. (I guess sometimes actors earn their money.) This same issue will hit the "Seditosa" actors.
(3) Renee O'Connor is from Texas. A lot of people there did not pick up on the sexual orientation of the "duo".
