Crucified males

i wonder if i would go quietly to my execution or if i would try to resist. Most people seem to be calm right before their crucifiiction/hanging etc. How do you get a person to go quietly against their will to be killed, even more to die slowly on a cross? Why don't they fight back?
Some do, but I think there's heavy influence of the accounts of Jesus's crucifixion, in which He went willingly to the cross, accepting His destiny.

I have a bit of a rebellious temperament but I think that if I had lived in Roman times, my arrest would already have been brutal and I would have succumbed under the numbers.
As a prisoner I would have been weakened by my stay in a dark dungeon with a minimum of food to avoid starvation.
After a speedy trial, there is the terrible scourging, which is not insignificant in terms of pain and bloodshed; thus further weakening. From the dungeon to the flogging yard I would have been covered in chains and surrounded by many brutal and callous guards. No way to rebel or run away.
Once flogged all over my body, I think the last thoughts of rebellion disappeared. I am now just a human wreck being carried to my cross.
Perhaps there would be a hint of resistance to pin me to the wood, but soon I would be held by knees that would put pressure on my arms so that the executioner could nail me.

yea i think you are right, "no hope, no resistance" When I read reports about current executions from the U.S. or the videos from Iran with hangings, no one seems to resist. In one video from Pakistan, the prisoner even puts the noose around his own neck.Only when he is really hanging and it hurts, he briefly grabs the rope before the noose wins the fight and he goes limp. Do you know reports about real crucifixions? How can i take someones hope?

I think what we'd need to keep in mind, is that the more difficult you make it for the executioner, the more suffering he will ensure you endure. You're going to die either way, it just depends on how hard you want it to be.

i think your right. I think i would give up to the executioner after a few weeks of imprisonment. Maybe you shoud give the victim time in a prison cell to think about it and loose hope. If i where told to be crucified in a few weeks, i would think about the act lot, how it feels and how long it takes to die etc. It would break my spirit...

yea, i wouldnt want to get beaten up before crucifiction, if the crucifiction is sure.

if you had to wait for the crucifixion: Would you be afraid of the pain or humiliation of hanging helplessly in front of spectators who may know you? I read about a girl from Afghanistan who was almost hanged. She said her fear of death was not very great at all. She was more afraid of pissing herself in front of the other villagers. This is what she told.

....
2.Do feel fatigued?
Yes, we were dragged and kicked and was too terrified. had no energy left.
3. Do you feel anxious?
not that much by then. was beyond emotion. i was just anxious about how I might dishonor myself while I hand. Like pissing while I hang.
4. Do you constantly remember what put you there?
not really, reason didnt matter anymore.
5. Do you fear the death that approaches?
Yes, was terrified. more of the pain then death itself.
...
7. Are you ashamed?
not because of what i did, but was ashamed of being publicly hanged and being ridiculed by the crowd.
8. Do you ask questions to the officers?
didnt need to ask, some of them were telling me how they will love to see me hang.

I don't know, by this point He looks too thoroughly exhausted to put up a fight--probably could only move up and down, as he writhed on the sedile. And He was probably broken long before He got to this point.
The beating he had by the guards then the flogging that is what I would like to happen to me before my crucifixion

Utopia, by the Asian filmmaker Scud, opens with the crucifixion dream of the main character:

What is the fastest way to kill someone by crucifixion? I would nail the wrists to the crossbeam and then erect the cross. In this way the body has no support an the person hangs with free feet. For some reason, the muscles that are necessary for breathing no longer function if a person hangs free for a while, , so I have read. Does anyone know how long this lasts? As far as I know, the support of the feet serves to prolong the dying process.

It is the end... I‘m crucified in the middle of the forest... It is atrociously painful... All around my cross, they raised other innocent people... And now... They are nailing my wife just in front of me... She is totally naked... She‘s screaming... Blood is spurting out of her wrists and I can see her sex still wide open... Despite of four nails through my body, the vision of my wife being wildly nailed onto a cross gives me a last but hard erection... Oh my God... How is that possible?

One of the most realistic crucifixions poirtrayed on film. A close second would be the crucifixion scene in the movie, Risen.
