The introduction in the story of a turkish executioner skillfull in flaying alive torture is not a racist screw but historical because it seems turkish and persians used to skin alive both men and women in the worst crimes.


Jean Struys tells how a slave who had tried to escape from a harem in Persia was skinned alive and the executioner managed to tear off her skin intact as can be seen in this hair-raising engraving.
