Oh, yes! The iron brodge and other iron surfaces are good choice for summer time barefoot slavegirl's walk! She feared this much more than winter walks on the snow (but I preferred snow so she was lucky! But not so happy during regular winter bastonadoes in the yard...

Before the crucifixion, many females endured harsh bastinado sessions and burning of their naked soles with torches and even red-hot rods (in a depth of dungeons during their interrogation sessions) so many of them had to walk to the place of execution not only barefooted on sharp gravel roads but some of them had to walk with skin of their soles skinned or scourged.

My favorite pic up to now is this one :
Personally, I find bastinado more exciting as a group punishment. A row of sentenced offenders, lying on a row, their feet tied to the same beam. Surrounded by curious onlookers, looking down on them. Then, the punishment starts and anxiously they hear from close by the cries, they see the shivering of the first condemned and they feel the vibrations of the beam. Waiting until it is their turn.
