Yes, the Lady Godiva impersonation of Hollywood became ridiculous, especially considering when one knows what was going on, when the cameras were not running, say at the parties of "Colonel Hogan" as example.

and Bo Derek, not in a Lady Godiva movie, but as you see later Hollywood, didn't have a problem with a nude female on a horse...

By the 1970's and 80's the Hays office was defunct, and the new Movie Rating System was being implemented. Setting Bo in a different class from those earlier movie starlets from the 40's and 50's.
For those who seem to forget, The Hays Code was this self-imposed industry set of guidelines for all the motion pictures that were released between 1934 and 1968.

[Claudette] Colbert landed her famous role as a femme fatale in Cecil B. DeMille’s films where she wore fetishistic costumes which lose layer after layer of clothing. In the 1932 historical epic, The Sign of the Cross, she starred opposite Fredric March as the Roman empress Poppaea. and since she would have been a boyhood crush had I not aged out of Saturday morning cartoons by the time Scooby Doo premiered, I thought to seek out a few more realistic depictions of her bare ass naked. Some of them artwork,
a manip
and one of many, MANY nude Velma cosplayers.
And yes, the inconsistency of costume-less cosplayers has occurred to me.

in which 1920s superstar Bébé Daniels skinny dips in the ocean
impelling me to find a picture of her without a body stocking. Only found one, but since it’s signed and up for sale on eBay
it’s provenance would seem to be established.
