We, the moderating staff of CruxForums are all unpaid volunteers who do the job because we love the site and want to keep it a safe, enjoyable and friendly place.

Of course, we cannot possibly achieve that aim without the co-operation of members. The Rules of the Forums set out for members what is and is not acceptable conduct. But we do not see ourselves as ‘police’, we cannot and do not try to spend our time simply enforcing the Rules.

We recently decided that it would be helpful for ourselves to set out in writing the principles guiding the ways we do our work here and try to maintain the goodwill and friendly atmosphere of the Forums, while applying the Rules as and when necessary.

So that members can understand 'our side of the bargain', and what they may reasonably expect from us, we share here the key points we’ve agreed on:
  • We treat all members with respect and courtesy.
  • We do not use abusive, hateful or threatening language, or engage in quarrels with members on the public threads.
  • We only ban members if they have ignored a clear warning.
  • We only delete members' posts or threads if they are definitely harmful to the Forums - either breaking our Rules, likely to attract unwanted attention, or running up excess usage charges.
  • When we intervene in members' posts by deleting, moving, or in other ways, we normally give the member an explanation via a Private Message.
  • We treat the limited data on members that we have access to (for purposes of registration and site security) as strictly confidential, and we protect the integrity of such data.
