Further to this discussion back in September, the Canadian TV production "La Corriveaux" is no longer lost -- a much better complete VHS transfer was uploaded onto Youtube a few months ago:

Here are some screencaps and an edit of the flogging scene (starting at 1:15 in the Youtube video):

In my earlier posting I was confused as to why there was a woman in a suspended cage and another being flogged. It's now clear that this was a theatrical device -- both of them are Marie-Josephte Corriveau. She is narrating her story from the cage as flashbacks, which is visually confusing on film and probably worked better on stage (it's a film adaptation of a stage production).

Later on, from 1:31, there is an extended hanging scene, complete with forced haircut and display of her corpse in a gibbet after her execution. Her gibbet still exists, and a photo is on Wikipedia.
I have just posted this whipping scene from the 1995 Canadian TV production "La Corriveaux" (based on the true story of Marie-Josephte Corriveau, who was first flogged and branded, and then after a re-trial hanged for the murder of her husband in 1763).

Here are some stills of the extended hanging scene:

Here is the scene on Youtube, starting at 1:31 in the movie:

I hadn't come across this scene before -- from the remake of "Roots", this is the hanging of Nancy Hold (played by Anna Paquin, who has starred in a fair few GIMP scenes over the years) by her own fiancee, Frederick Murray. The plot summary of this episode (from Wikipedia) is:

On the eve of the Civil War, George returns from England after his British master gave him his freedom after 20 years. He returns to Tom Lea's farm, now in ruin, and discovers that while he was gone, his mother Kizzy had died and Lea had never freed the rest of his family. He tracks down Matilda and his family, now owned by a new master, Benjamin Murray (Wayne Pére). Murray allows George to stay with his wife on the plantation, much to the consternation of his secessionist son Frederick Murray (Lane Garrison), who is engaged to marry Nancy Holt (Anna Paquin). George later leaves after discovering that his freedom will be revoked if his remains in the state for more than 90 days.

George's son Tom is now a skilled blacksmith and valued member of the Murray plantation. Tom (Sedale Threatt Jr.) blames his father for abandoning them and initially wants nothing to do with him. When war breaks out, Nancy reveals to Tom that she is a Union spy and tries to enlist him to help her. He initially refuses, but when Frederick and his friends rape his wife, Irene, Tom decides to help. Their plans go awry and Nancy and her slave Jerusalem (Mekhi Phifer) are exposed as spies and are hanged by Frederick.

I think this is the best hanging scene anywhere, maybe because of the sudden nature of it and also the dress she is wearing
