Nimum was a great sketch artist who was with us around 10 years ago and then disappeared. Does anyone know if he is still with us? As the prisoners are soldiers(rarely crucified except for desertion) they are fine specimens for the cross; will dance nicely on the wood and last a long long time. I am sure wealthy patron passing on the public road would assist in the executions. Here is how I see it.

Love this interpretation. I added a bit of dialogue of my own; how the sadistic guards are enjoying their play. I am sure the governor will be impressed.

Another inspiration from this. I wonder if the torment from the nails or insects is worse. Perhaps to add scorpions.

Ooops, I may have gotten this wrong, it is a classic mining scene, whips and all. The way I saw it was prisoners forced to cut the wood for their own crosses. I like the idea of prisoners forced to participate in all stages of their executions.

Excellent as always and love the handsome man's facial expressions. Sometimes crucifixions in the outer province we less controlled by the dictates of the empire. Locals could sometimes make up their own laws with often very cruel consequences.
