Not sure if we include mutilation of adulterous wives as judicial corporal punishment -- if we do, this scene from "Vikings" (S3E06) is a classic. Judith is sentenced to have her ears and nose cut off for adultery. After the first ear, she finally reveals the name of the father of her illegitimate child and is reprieved by the King. Presumably, it would have been awkward having her without a nose for the rest of the series. As it is, she was sporting a variety of asymmetric hair styles to cover her missing right ear.

Nice use of the dark and light tones on #3 to highlight her whole body
. It seems like with #7 they are either headed to a pollock or a crucifixion either way it seems they will be getting a flogging first.

It seems they take pride and pleasure in their work as seen by the smile on those implementing the punishment and the downtrodden looks on those receiving it.

Some more random finds. #1 is from one of Ernst Schertel's books, captioned "After the flogging" -- nice evocative facial expression. The others are from an early 20th century scrapbook that came up for auction -- I have cut and enlarged them from the full-page scans in the auction listing. #2 shows a Victorian British lady being stripped for whipping and collaring by Arabian slavers. #3-#6 remind me of the images in Quanter's books, showing some rough village justice. #7-#9 look to be French. #8 and #9 show whores being paraded and humiliated in public (a straw crown or hat was a sign of the fallen woman, contrasting with the virgin bride's myrtle crown). Not sure what #7 shows, as I can't quite read the caption.
Why do they keep it so chilly in here? How about a little heat?

Well, that's part of the punishment, no point in making her comfortable.
Also, it's better that her nipples are nice and hard when they are kept out on public display.
