She's just waiting for you

If only.

OK, who dobbed me in? I thought my BD wasn't visible this year? You're also a few days late :D, but thanks for the greetings. I was flying under the radar this year as I didn't feel like celebrating.

Now if we could get this one

Things would be looking up.

Or even better

Happy Birthday Phlebas.

And many thanks for the wishes you all sent me.
I had relatives round to celebrate me getting one year nearer to their inheritance, and didn't want to spoil their expectations by letting them know that CF is so good at keeping me young!

Happy B-day, Phlebas!

I did a little research on your name. . . interesting!

Yes, as I've told here before, I'm fond of both TS Eliot and Iain Banks.
When I first ventured into the world of online crux twenty something years ago I had the novel Consider Phlebas sitting above my desk, so when I was looking for a username . . . . . . little did I think I'd still be using it all these years later. it reflects my interest in both those writers.

Phlebas the Phoenician, a fortnight dead,
Forgot the cry of gulls, and the deep sea swell
And the profit and loss.
A current under sea
Picked his bones in whispers. As he rose and fell
He passed the stages of his age and youth
Entering the whirlpool.
Gentile or Jew
O you who turn the wheel and look to windward,
Consider Phlebas, who was once handsome and tall as you.

Side note, Banks got two novel titles out of that short piece of verse. Who can tell me the second one? :)
