I must reply myself, this night I got (from above?) the clear remembrance it has been Ernest Renan's La Vie de Jésus (1863) in 4 tomes, wherein in one of them is written about the (extra) cruel auxiliary Syrians (!) who crucified. Thus from merciless is ever to speak.
