Misskatie, I hesitate to use the word "knowledge," it’s more along the lines of "informed speculation." Totally. We have had nearly 2000 years of the Christian church using the cross as a symbol of faith and redemption. We forget what its original purpose was.

And as I’ve speculated ad nauseum, the central focus of faith in the Roman Catholic Church has for centuries been a mostly naked vaguely effeminate guy nailed to a cross, and therefore for Catholics of a relevant sexual orientation, getting off on completely naked women nailed to crosses is not much of a psychosexual stretch.

Those words from a Stations of the Cross ceremony are locked in my memory nearly 20 years after I heard them. I was in the middle of puberty at the time, and that image clicked something in my mind, and I started wondering what being crucified naked would be like. The jump to imagining women crucified was an easy one to make after that.
