Let's finish the story of a splendid ass...
First few minutes on the cross are not the worst. The level of adrenaline is comparatively high and the muscles are strong. She tried to balance on the feet and wrists not supporting her body on the spike. However the height of a sedile and the length of a spike are suited wisely, not allowing the victim to remove the top from her anus even when she straighten her legs.

After some quarter or maybe half an hour the pain and static effort cause the victim to be tired and weaker. Now she must struggle not to slip down the spike. She tries to manage it by pressing her buttocks together to "catch" and "hold" the spike but she does it in vain and the first drops of blood appear...
But at least it speeds death

Finally the body slips down to the extents, limited by the solid block of the sedile. This is the moment when the crucified realizes that she IS dead - no physician in the whole Roman Empire can help her - and losses her self control... The massive internal bleeding is going to hasten the death, however no more blood appears outside the body because the anus is blocked by the thick lower part of the spike.
