Little fact of the day :March 22nd is the earliest possible date for Easter. It is a very rare event. Last one was in 1818. Next one in 2285, so we will never see it in our lifetime. In case it happens, Ascension Day, the sixth Thursday after Easter falls on April 30th, hence the only possibility that it would be in April. The second earliest date of Easter, March 23, has consequently Ascension Day on May the 1st. Not only coincide then a movable Christian Holiday with a fixed Socialist Holiday, coincidentally Ascension Day is also celebrated by the Christian labour movement (commomerating the encyclical Rerum Novarum by Leo XIII in 1891), so both public Holidays AND labour days would fall on the same date. This is also at best a once-in-a-lifetime event. We had one in 2008. Previous was in 1913, next in 2160.

The latest possible date for Easter is April 25th. Like all extreme dates it happens also very rare, but the next one is in 2038, only 14 years from now!

No coincidence, it was a deliberate attempt by the Vatican to upstage the Socialist celebrations. It was made the feast-day of 'St. Joseph the Workman', i.e. the carpenter.

This "hijacking" of May 1st by the Vatican by making it the feast of Saint Joseph the Workman, only dates from 1955, under Pius XII. w
In the region where I live, people (even Socialists) commonly call Ascension Day "Rerum Novarum" instead,, after the encyclical from 1891.

Jonathan Glazer has just won an Oscar for Zone of Interest. (And if you haven't seen it, Under the Skin is an excellent film, made from an even better novel.)

In 2010, Glazer made an advert for Cadbury................

............ They didn't like it for some reason.
Just think what that might do to a Cadbury's Creme Egg!

This has always been my favourite Flake advert featuring actress/model Rachel Brown

The steam makes the flake deliciously ready to melt in my mouth, but I have to eat the whole bar, unless I want it to start melting onto my breasts (mind you don't get trampled in the rush to my bathroom! :bath:)
