I love this one of course, thanks for posting it again Phlebas,
a slavegirl shouldn't be proud,
but it makes me proud to see myself picked out like that -
on my favourite special sort of cross -twice over -
Scotland's saltire of St Andrews,
and Eulalia of Barcelona's X-cross too -
and it forces me into such a cruelly exposed posture,
imagine what you could do to me,
absolutely anything you like!

Some little girls seem to spend quite a lot of their time hanging upside down in the gym or playground - I certainly did -
perhaps it's something to do with our evolution. And even now I quite like being hung upside-down. I've not tried upside-down crux as such,
but hanging in a similar position for some time feels somewhat easier, our legs are stronger than our arms and shoulders, and, while it becomes uncomfortable and eventually painful in the hips and groin (and nowadays I tend to get a headache 'cos of the blood all going to my head),
there isn't the strain on the chest and rib-cage - which hangs, as you say, rather elegantly!

Absolutely. Thanks for the perspective Eul, the relative difference in arm and upper body strength between men and women should not be underestimated.

These are achingly beautiful crux images!!!! I love the full extension of arms as these women hang in complete exhaustion. I can almost feel the pull on my shoulders and arms...so stimulating...as though I were hanging myself!
What a treat to see this gal crucified along the Appian Way! 
And this one too! The nails look so realistic! The blood flows on both these pics add so much realism.Where are the bottom halves of these women? Oh where are they????
