An old American version of the misread:
16 January 1949, Los Angeles <i>Times</i>, pg. F2:
DISTAFF SIDE: Today we offer three reasons why we are fond of womenfolk.
Regardless of age, it seems they are never at a loss for the word that expresses
their feminine feelings best.

Example One, a young miss of six, lives far from the city. Being small, she
dislikes the struggle through crowds at Pennsylvania Station which occurs
every time she comes to New York. Small wonder, then, that when she learned the
Lord's Prayer recently, the part she liked best was the phrase "...and lead us
not into Penn Station."
