A wizard's familiar grants special abilities to its master, but only when the familiar and its master are within one mile of each other. If a familiar is lost, it can be replaced one week later through a specialized ritual.
If Pilus runs away he may be able to convince one of the other four to reverse him into a human being. These wizards are more powerful than Repertor.
Than nothing will prevent him to be familiar with St Babs the Brunette.
It was to be expected that Pilus would be disappointed.
How can a man who has shown so much patience be so impatient? This is only a kind of pre-foreplay ritual. Pilus is being upgraded to bring his left arm to equal stength as his right one.

Absolutely, old chap. A bit of gratitude wouldn't go amiss, what? It's been bally hard work getting these gels off their crosses and dashed if they don't just take it all for granted.
As for Barb, all that hard work you put in teaching her a spot of discipline, five minutes later and she's up to her neck in the mulligatawny expecting guess who to come and rescue her. So one again we drag her out of the mire and off she goes again without so much as a peck on the cheek by way of thanks.
