So you concede that you do not have names but you lived through it...how very noble of you! What do want? a medal? Your accusation that I caused members to leave was basically a lie and I do not believe one word about how you so nobly urged members to stay....what absolute bullshit! Going to bed now, I really have had enough of people like you.
I humbly admitted my error. I also apologize.
I somehow missed your apology for shutting down three popular threads with no notice or explanations.

“Live and let live” style naive mind your business talk is fine and all, but it works best if the 4000 posts of naked women are hosted on some other site. It’s hard not to feel like this place is getting colonized by regular old perverts, instead of remaining a dedicated crux space.

Hey, remember Top Cat? This was an issue before, a few members, or even just a single member over-posting. It got nice and peaceful once he left.

Top Cat was also an arsehole, which is what actually got him banned.

I think the debate may partly be whether this whole place needs to be a dedicated crux space. I' say, in fact, that given it needs to designate certain sub-forums for crux posting, it hasn't been such a thing for as long as I've been here. Perhaps there was a time before when it was?

From the beginning this place was mixed, with general bdsm sections as well as crux. This distinguished it from the Crux Foundation which was solely crux related. Since those days we have had a significant growth in non bdsm threads as well. Some members like that, and some don't.

If there's enough funds and bandwith and the sections are organised properly, there's not need for any of those to step on each other's toes.
That crap steps on my toes. And it hurts! Would you please get your foot off of there? Thanks.

How about a story: Let's imagine a poor writer. Call them BarbaWindarFossyPraetorio et al. They slave away over a hot keyboard to compose a chapter. They have to consume copious amounts of caffeine to stay focused. Finally, after many hours, it's done. They relax. They post. It goes to the top of "Latest Posts". They can hope that lots of people see it and read it. Then, 10 min later someone adds to 5 existing naked women threads, it drops out of Latest Posts and their hopes are dashed. Then they turn to alcohol and die a few years later of chronic liver disease....

Is "Latest Posts" really how most viewers find threads? If so, that does make the whole forum into something like a zero-sum game, where every thread is a competitor to each other. I didn't realise it was such a dog-eat-dog place...

How else do we find new posts without that tool when the robot forgets to alert us? But I tend to look at more than the top ten. I discovered a really nice new member posting well written crux stories just 2 days ago this way.

the new threads post is good, again if the robot remembers I’m following it!

The follow function really needs fixing. No thread should be unfollowed save by choice.

An the other way is... looking at the forums? So if you look at Crucifixion, or any other one, the number of pic threads in Fantasy Unlimited doesn't affect what you see at all. They're not really in competiion.

I am personally convinced that:
1) this argument has now degenerated to the point where it is no longer likely to resolve any issues.
2) people do not come to CF to argue about whether they should post images, either original or "reposts".
3) We have a few rules (no excessive gore, no children, etc.) - I think we do not need a lot more - we do not want to be a totally rules-based forum.
4) There are steps that can be taken voluntarily by artists to promote or showcase their work (e.g. tagging or re-labeling threads), which have been suggested by members. These can be implemented on a voluntary basis by those who wish to do it, and we can all see whether there is success.
5) The number of images being posted is not a cost issue to this forum, according to IM. This is a matter of our preferences. In that context, I am not personally that concerned about people posting images. As a staff member, I will continue to move "off topic" posts to more appropriate areas, as I see them. If members want pictures of "fat bottomed girls" (as Freddie Mercury might say), or other non-crux images, whatever. For now, let's just keep them in Fantasy Unlimited.
6) This unnecessary and unhelpful bickering over issues that look like they will never produce consensus of any sort IS likely an issue related to cost, insofar as keeping the forums going relies on the good will of members.
7) This forum is not a democracy - IM owns it. IM sets the rules. Moderators moderate and administer (hopefully to the advantage of both IM and members).

I suggested this thread to propose ideas and thoughts (originally about not hijacking other people's threads), which many members have done, but not to drive immediately to a solution voted on by a majority, to establish a parliamentary process, or run a Brexit-like poll. As mp5stab said, we signed up for the artwork and stayed for the culture. You don't build a culture by imposing things on people, in my view. We get to know each other, we try to be considerate of each other, and the point of this discussion should not be to "win" the argument. The forum is a kind of living thing, like a plant, and I feel that you can't just hack away at it and hope it will thrive.

Now, I'd like to get back to doing some writing, and posting a few manips here and there. I will think about how to tell you all about that "original" work when I do. ;)

5 not a cost issue? since when?
I clearly remember this being an issue according to IM the first time with server hindrances where only a part of the thumbnails were loaded.
Or was that just BS?
So I can post big PNG files without the forums needing more money everytime?

Unfortunately, none of us really know the answer. Only IM gets the bills and could know if thousands of additional postings of thumbnails add to the cost of the site (and if there is a different cost to jpg vs png). If there is a cost, it would be good information to share, at least with the contributors.

We know there is a cost associated with posting full-size images - so we use thumbnails. There was an issue of cost earlier, but that seems to have been associated with slow payment of the fees, resulting in reduced service. The point I was trying to make, however, is that the number of images is less a threat to the forums than constant animosity every time we try to have a discussion about something.

You are very correct, and I apologize for the extent to which I fed the animosity.

While we are here, could I get the ability to tag threads with “original content” “original art” and “original stories”? And then maybe we can pin a post somewhere here that shows everyone the tag search for original, so they don’t have to do it manually every time.

Sure. I think it’s a good step in the right direction.

Under the thread title on the left is a tag symbol. I've been told that you don't have to be a member to use it. Please try it and if it doesn't work for non admin then let me know.

I think two simple polls should suffice for now. I'm looking for suitable responses that members could give before I put the polls together.
Poll 1
Question. Should the Moderators exercise more control over the content of new threads?
Possible responses.
a.Yes. The content of some threads is of little general interest.
b.No. Members should be able to post whatever they like.
(Assuming it's legal and not breaking any rules.)

Poll 2
Question. Should there be a daily limit on the number of web sourced images uploaded by a member?
Possible responses.
a.Max of 10
b.Max of 20
c.Max of 50
d.Max of 100
e.Max of 200
f.No limit

Please feel free to suggest possible responses.
the fewer the better, but why do we not make the rule, that with a pic there must be a storyline, even just a thought. Pictures we can find all in the net, but when someone defines a story with it, or explain his thought about that specific pic, it is much more interesting.

(original art by me, yay!)
… and I’ll start a “pies and pastries” thread, yum! ;)
Wow, sir, you are really a sophisticated pervert! :)
Pets? OK, if pets are connected, by some way, with your "dark fantasies" - why not.
I beg a pardon if the following example will seem inappropriate to someone, but...

Maybe, it connects rather with such topics, as "anime pictures". I remember that Deviantart had a lot of artists who created sadistic or pornographic works with many popular characters from cartoons and so on. Pictures of anime girls in perils, hanged, shooted etc. is a giant industry. Clearly, fat ladies or barefoot girls can specifically inspire dark fantasies in some people. I think that the main criterion that some materials are appropriate is the feedback. If a post receives likes and comments, it means that it find its audience here! It's hard to imagine that some of visitors of a forum, which topic is dark fantasies, would give likes to any material, if it does not inspire their fantasy...

Sorry dfg. You are responding to a post that was a figment of your imagination. As per 1984, history is being erased and rewritten before our eyes. Sorry @Loinclothslave1 , you and I just dreamed that you also responded to a non-existent poll.
Do I want to 'forbid" a poll? Not if I can't see it. :D
