This is a great photo and, for me, it raises so many questions! Its creator is Felix Von Der Osten, a photographer, and this is from his Alter Ego photobook about LARP http://www.vonderosten.de/alter-ego

But, sadly, this picture doesn't have a description on the website. I've seen this exact same shrew's fiddle in another photo from a medieval festival, so this is some kind of a medieval reenactors' troupe. But, well, don't they seem to be on their way to the venue instead of at the venue? Why not change into their clothing there? The girl clearly can't open the fiddle herself. So is this about her trying to get in character? Who is she in real life, anyway? What conversation led to her being locked up like this?

I imagine myself in her place, tossed in the back of the cart like some kind of cargo, dressed in rags and restrained in this humiliating wood. Maybe my family, desperate to not go hungry, decided to sell me at the local market. Maybe these are some neighbours who caught me thieving and are dragging me off to face my judgement. So many possibilities... Hey, at least they didn't make me walk!

All I want to add is, I like this picture so much that I made a couple renderings reproducing it earlier this year

That's right, some girls can't adjust. If a witch - then she is definitely barefoot.
