It's more than just being dressed, the Chinese seem (perhaps even in real life/death) to think it important for condemned women to be dressed nicely for their execution. Strange, but it seems part of the culture. For me as a girl the dresses are an attraction, I can imagine the feel of them while I'm being tied and tortured. But I do have a problem with the high heeled shoes! I think a simple, short dress and undies should be allowed, but legs and arms should be bare for the ropes to bite on.

Here is the protocol I found for executions in those US states that still do them (by lethal injection)

• Inmate makes final preparations - In some states, male inmates are given a fresh pair of pants and a shirt, female inmates a dress, and the prisoner is allowed to shower before getting dressed. In other states, the inmate must remove all outer clothing.

The shower is a nice idea. Cleanliness is next to godliness

She made sure to order a pair of drawers to wear under her dress to her execution.
(Women in those days often did not wear knickers/panties.)
