YAWN...........:)

Did I say anything?;)

I don't purchase poetry books so you all know......

I enjoy, soft pillows, warm fire, and a loving man's arms........;)

just a thought - hearing a lot about 'my land' this evening,
here's another aspect of it, the (still Gaelic-speaking) isles -
a lovely song. O mo dhùthaich, 'Oh, my land'
(of women in the 18th-19th centuries,
about the way men are trying to persuade them to emigrate to Manitoba,
but they don't believe it's the paradise it's made out to be ;))
and fine photos of the Isle of Skye

O mo dhùthaich' stu th'air m'aire Oh my country, you are on my mind
Uibhist chùmhraidh ùr nan gallan Fresh, fragrant Uist of the saplings
Far a faighte na daoin' uaisle Where the noble men are found
Far 'm bu dual do Mhac 'ic Ailein Who gave their hereditary allegiance to Mac ic Ailein

Tìr a' mhurain, tìr an eorna Land of seabed, land of barley
Tìr 's am pailt a h-uile seòrsa Land of abundance of every kind
Far am bi na gillean òga Where the young lads will be
Gabhail òran 's 'g òl an lionna Singing songs and drinking beer

Thig iad ugainn, carach, seòlta They will come to us, cunning and wily
Gus ar mealladh far ar n-eòlais In order to entice us from our homes
Molaidh iad dhuinn Manitòba They will praise Manitoba to us
Dùthaich fhuar gun ghual, gun mhòine A cold country with no coal and no peat
