Sure, it’s easy enough
once you’ve uploaded the images, below the images, click “insert multiple” then click the radio box, select “thumbnail”:
(First two are Lady Carole, last is Vulchur)
For an individual image, after upload click the “insert…” on the image, click “thumbnail”
(This one is by a certain @montycrusto )
I hope that helps - I’m using an iPhone for this, layout maybe slightly different for other platforms but the steps will be very similar.

@gerembeau - by using the quote feature I can quote all or part of a person’s post including images, as both @Baracus and I have done in our two posts. Another reason for liking thumbnails!

If you insert images as thumbnails, other users can highlight them and use “quote” to make the thumbnail appear in their response, like this:
