Other than the previously mentioned laundry concerns, I cannot for the life of me think of a good reason for that to happen. Sort of goes against the laws of nature imo.

Guess it is modern industrial production. While in ancient time you had the time to carefully undress, rape and torture the victims before putting them on the rack, todays economic concerns force us to speed the things up, so no time for undressing rests. Also in Covid-19 times you could face closing your torture facility, when you do not comply to some hygienic standards.
